# Waste Plastic Film Shredding, Optical Sorting, Sorting, and Dry Cleaning System ,this system with the newly added optical sorting unit significantly improves the sorting accuracy of plastic films through optical sorting equipment. It can precisely separate plastic films of different materials and colors, making subsequent dry cleaning and recycling more efficient. Overall, it is suitable for processing various waste plastic films such as PE, PP, and LDPE. The detailed analysis of the system is as follows:

## 1. Shredding Unit As the core of preprocessing, this unit aims to cut large and messy waste plastic films into uniform fragments, reducing the burden for subsequent sorting and cleaning. A dual-shaft shear shredder is generally used, which can efficiently shear tough materials such as thick films and stretch films. Some production lines are also equipped with a single-shaft film-specific crusher. Its spiral serrated knife shaft, combined with an anti-stick coating, can prevent plastic films from wrapping around the knife shaft. Meanwhile, the screen at the discharge port can control the fragment size within 5-10cm, meeting the feeding requirements of subsequent processing.

## 2. Basic Sorting Unit Located after the shredding unit and before the optical sorting unit, it mainly performs preliminary impurity removal to reduce the processing pressure of optical sorting equipment. It usually combines a vibrating screen, a magnetic separator, and a preliminary air separator. The vibrating screen first removes large granular heavy impurities such as stones and debris. The magnetic separator absorbs metal impurities like iron nails and iron wires mixed in the fragments to prevent damage to subsequent equipment. The air separator separates light impurities such as paper and wood chips based on density differences, initially improving the purity of plastic film fragments.

## 3. Optical Sorting Unit This is a key link to improve sorting accuracy, especially suitable for separating plastic films with similar appearances but different materials or those needing to be classified by color. The mainstream equipment is a combination of a color sorter and a near-infrared (NIR) optical sorter. The color sorter separates plastic films of different colors by identifying color differences, adapting to recycling scenarios with requirements for the color of finished products. The NIR optical sorter can penetrate plastic film fragments and accurately distinguish different types of plastics such as PE and PP based on the spectral differences of plastics of different materials. It can even identify plastic films with printing coatings. The sorting accuracy of this link can reach over 98%, which can greatly reduce the impact of mixing different materials on the quality of recycled materials. Some production lines can design it as an optional module to meet different recycling needs.

## 4. Dry Cleaning Unit It adopts a water-free or micro-water process to remove oil stains, dust, and residual fine impurities on the surface of plastic film fragments, featuring both environmental protection and energy-saving advantages.

The core equipment is a combination of a friction washer and a cyclone separator, and some high-end production lines are equipped with integrated crushing and dry cleaning machines. The horizontal drum of the friction washer has ribs on the inner wall. When rotating at high speed, it makes plastic fragments collide and rub against each other to peel off surface stains. If combined with a small amount of environmentally friendly cleaning agents, the decontamination effect can be enhanced. The cyclone separator extracts the dust and fine impurities peeled off by friction through air flow. At the same time, some equipment is equipped with a cover and an air suction device to avoid dust overflow.

Finally, the cleanliness of the plastic fragments meets the granulation requirements, and the moisture content can be controlled below 15%.
